A 315m high mountain pass of great scenic splendour, situated between Suurbraak and Barrydale. The khoikhoi originally discovered this ancient route and called it Tradouw, which means “the footpath of the woman” because the Khoi woman used to walk this pass to deliver food and water to their men on the hunting grounds.
Magnificent galleries of rock paintings are still remain for the khoikhoi era. A trade route between the Klein-Karoo and the Breede River was established and the pass was constructed in 1873.
