Stormsvlei hamlet comprises a cluster of buildings on the farm Avontuur, on the N2 between Swellendam and Riviersonderend. Stormsvlei has an intresting and colourful history and the name “Avontuur” is first encountered when grazing rights were granted in 1732. From there it developed into a self-contained settlement with its inn, smithy, trading store and other enmities.
